From June 2nd to 3rd, 2021, the expert group of the Chinese Stomatological Association (CSA)'s "Rise of Central China" charity teaching assistance demonstration event was invited to the School of Stomatology of HENU. More than 10 well-known domestic stomatology experts, including Professor Wang Songling, Vice President of CSA, Vice President of Capital Medical University, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Yue Lin, Secretary-General of CSA, Professor Liu Hongwei, Deputy Secretary-General of CSA, Zhang Hanping, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee of Peking University School of Stomatology (PKU-SS), Professor Zhang Yi, Chief Physician and Doctoral Supervisor of PKU-SS, Professor Zhu Hong, Chief Physician and Special Expert of Department of Stomatology, Beijing Children's Hospital of Capital Medical University, Professor Cao Xuanping, President of Henan Stomatological Association (HSA), and Ge Fengqing, Vice Minister of Continuing Education Department of CSA, came to HENU to provide consultation and guidance on stomatology education and discipline construction in HENU. These experts were gathered with Song Chunpeng, President of HENU, Sun Junjian, Vice President of HENU and Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Henan Medical School (HMS), and leaders of HMS and the School of Stomatology.
On the afternoon of June 2, the participating experts first visited Huaihe Hospital of HENU, and the Department of Stomatology of the First Affiliated Hospital of HENU, and learned in detail about the doctor teaching, student internships, and coordination between medical education and practice of the two departments. After that, Academician Wang Songling and Professor Zhang Hanping gave reports entitled Progress and Prospects of Oral and Maxillofacial Regeneration, and Stick to Morality, Build People's Original Aspirations, and Build a Pattern of Ideological and Political Education for the faculty and students of the School of Stomatology. Some teachers, students and doctors from Zhengzhou University School of Stomatology, Xinxiang Medical University School of Stomatology, Henan University People’s Hospital, SATH Hospital of Stomatology Henan University, Huaihe Hospital, and the First Affiliated Hospital also listened to the reports. The report meeting was presided over by Dean Ren Yanfang.
At 5:30 in the afternoon, Professor Song Chunpeng, President of HENU, and Professor Sun Junjian, Vice President and Secretary of the CPC Committee of HMS, met with Academician Wang Songling and other experts and scholars. The CSA’s “Rise of Central China” Charity Event and Exchange Symposium on the Construction of Stomatology Discipline of HENU were held at Meeting Room 152 of Administrative Building, Jinming Campus. Responsible comrades from the School of Medicine, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Huaihe Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital, School of Stomatology, and SATH Hospital of Stomatology attended the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Ren Yanfang, Dean of the School of Stomatology. Dean Ren Yanfang first expressed a sincere welcome to the leaders and experts on behalf of the School of Stomatology, and introduced the general situation of the school's development to the guests; Academician Wang Songling gave a detailed interpretation of the history and current situation of the development of stomatology and stomatology education in China, and put forward constructive opinions on the stomatology discipline construction and development of the School of Stomatology; the secretary-general and deputy secretary-general of the CSA introduced the original intention and mission of the "Rise of Central China" event, and President Cao Xuanping made a speech in connection with the development of stomatology in Henan Province. Other participating experts also actively made suggestions and conducted full discussions and exchanges. Finally, President Song Chunpeng made a concluding speech. He said that CSA came to HENU to organize the "Rise of Central China" Charity Teaching Assistance for Promotion of Oral Health and Development of Stomatology, which is not only the need to implement the national health strategy, but also the careful measures to pay attention to people's livelihood, and also an important opportunity for the development of Henan’s stomatology. HENU will definitely seize the opportunity and strive to make greater contributions in cultivating stomatology talents, scientific research and serving the people's health in the process of Double First-Class university construction.
In order to further improve the overall quality of the faculty, the teaching level and the quality of education and teaching, at 8 am on June 3, the opening ceremony of the CSA’s "Rise of Central China" charity teaching assistance demonstration class was held in the lecture hall at the first floor of the library of the Jinming campus of HENU. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ren Xuequn, Executive Vice Dean of HMS. First of all, Sun Junjian, Vice President of HENU and Secretary of the CPC Committee of HMS, delivered a speech, introducing the history of HENU, the development of medical education and stomatology to the experts. He said that the stomatology in Henan Province has a long history of development. The current stage is the best period for the development of stomatology in Henan Province. He hopes that through this charity event, it is necessary to pay more attention to the stomatology in Central China, invest more resources and energy to help, foster and promote the rise of stomatology in Central China.
After that, Cao Xuanping, President of HSA, introduced the development status of stomatology in Henan Province, the basic situation of HSA, and analyzed the problems, situation and tasks of Henan’s stomatology education. At the opening ceremony, Professor Yue Lin from PKU-SS, Secretary-General of CSA, expressed gratitude on behalf of CSA to Shanghai Bondent Technology Co., Ltd. for its support and help in China's stomatology education and public welfare activities, and issued a certificate of appreciation to President Chen Chunhong. Finally, the symposium also held the unveiling ceremony of the Continuing Education Base of Henan University School of Stomatology for the CSA’s "Rise of Central China" charity event. It was unveiled by Academician Wang Songling, Vice President of CSA, Professor Yue Lin, Secretary-General of CSA, Cao Xuanping, President of HSA, and Ren Yanfang, Dean of Henan University School of Stomatology.
After the opening ceremony, Professor Yue Lin, Professor Zhang Yi, and Professor Liu Hongwei from PKU-SS, and Zhu Hong, Director of Beijing Children’s Hospital of Capital Medical University, presented the demonstration teaching activities entitled Clinical Manifestations and Diagnosis of Acute Periapical Periodontitis, Overview of Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma, General of Oral Mucosal Diseases, and Advantages and Development Direction of Early Correction of Malocclusion in Children, respectively. The demonstration teaching event report was presided by He Baojie, Dean of SATH Hospital of Stomatology Henan University, and Xie Wenzhong, President of Kaifeng Stomatology Association.
The CSA’s "Rise of Central China" charity event at HENU opens up ideas and directions for stomatology education of HENU in discipline construction, talent training, university conditions, education and teaching. The wonderful demonstration teaching and reports of the experts and scholars have broadened the visions and increased their knowledge of clinical hospitals and teachers and students, and benefited them a lot. We will use this event as an opportunity to grasp development opportunities, plan for the future scientifically, and strive to play our due role in the strategy of healthy China and healthy Central Plains.
