On May 28, in order to implement the Notice on Holding the 7th China International College Students’ "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition issued by the Ministry of Education, the 2nd College Students’ "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of Henan Medical School (HMS) was successfully held in the lecture hall of the School of Nursing and Health at Jinming Campus. This competition invited Zhang Qintao, an evaluation expert in the national competition, Founding Partner of Beijing Baizhi Education Group, and Secretary General of the National University Innovation and Venture Capital Service Alliance; Yuan Ang, an evaluation expert in the national competition, Member of the Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Committee for General University Graduates of the Ministry of Education, Wang Yunzhuang, General Manager of the Training Department of Sino-US International Venture Port and Executive Principal of Henan Ruiqi Vocational Skills Training School, Li Congguo, Director of the Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center of HENU, and Kong Jun, Director of the Student Affairs Office of HMS, reviewed the competition projects. The opening ceremony of the competition was presided over by Wang Ying, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of HMS.
Chen Hailing, Executive Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of HMS, delivered a speech on behalf of HMS. He pointed out that university and college students are a new force in implementing innovation-driven development strategies and promoting mass entrepreneurship and innovation. The 2nd College Students’ "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition with feature of medicine, organized by HMS, is an important action for promoting the development of medical education with the force of mass entrepreneurship and innovation. He hoped the students can strive to be the dream chasers of the times with the positive energy of youth.
The innovation and entrepreneurship team of HMS won the National Silver Award of the Higher Education Master Circuit in the National Finals of the 6th China International College Students’ "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Qiu Mengyuan, the student representative of the team, said that, “I hope everyone should have the idea of innovation and entrepreneurship, dare to be innovative entrepreneurs, uphold the spirit that I dare to break through, and must take own projects seriously, and find gaps through the competition to bridge the gaps. I hope that we will go higher and farther on the road of innovation and entrepreneurship.”
Li Congguo pointed out that HMS attaches great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship, focuses on cultivating the innovative consciousness and entrepreneurial spirit of medical students, and really achieves the promotion of teaching, learning, and training with competition. He put forward three hopes to the students: (1) to closely integrate own major with new industries, new formats, and new technologies; (2) to promote social and economic development through the transformation of achievements and help the revitalization of the countryside; and (3) to make great ambitions, promote good virtue, become a talent, and assume great responsibilities.
In the competition, contestants from 37 teams elaborated on the market positioning, management model, marketing model, risk prediction, financial analysis, and team building of their research projects. During the roadshow, the judges and teachers asked questions about the project's technical principles, funding sources, market prospects, etc., pointed out the shortcomings of the work, and gave suggestions for improvement. After fierce competition, the project “Test for Neutralizing Antibody –‘Procurator’ of Prevention and Control of Global COVID-19 Epidemic” won the special prize, the project “Comprehensive Development and Industrialization and E-Commerce Platform Construction of Eucommia Ulmoides under New Development Concept” and other two projects won the first prize, and the project “Yang Siqing - Building a Leading Brand of Natural Anti-aging Skincare Products” and other four projects won the second prize, and the project “Liguo - Restore Skin's Steady State” and other nine projects won the third prize.
Zhang Qintao, the leader of the judges group, pointed out that HMS has a long history and has always upheld excellent medical literacy. The students in this competition performed well, the projects were innovative, but there were some shortcomings in practice. He believed that under the guidance of HMS teachers, the medical students would make another great achievement.
In this college students’ "Internet +" innovation and entrepreneurship competition, HMS regards innovation and entrepreneurship as an important starting point and core work of the talent training, adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating talents, strengthens the quality of medical students with new connotations, and cultivates new innovative and entrepreneurial forces, and stimulates the creativity of students. The students can increase wisdom and talents in innovation and entrepreneurship, and temper the will and quality in hard work. HMS performs a solid job in all aspects of the competition with the basic principles of realism, dynamic improvement, fairness and justice.
