On the morning of May 6, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between HENU and the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM), Chinese Academy of Sciences was held at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica. Li Jia, Director of SIMM, Ye Yang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of SIMM, Gao Zhaobing and Zhao Qiang, Deputy Directors of SIMM, Shi Yansen, Director of Party and Administration Office of SIMM, He Min, Director of Graduate Education Division of SIMM, Lu Keping, Secretary of CPC Committee of HENU, Sun Junjian, Member of Standing Committee of CPC Committee and Vice President of HENU, Pei Qiang, Director of CPC Committee Office of HENU, Liang Gang, Secretary of CPC Committee of School of Pharmacy of HENU, and Han Guang, Executive Dean of School of Pharmacy of HENU, attended the signing ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Gao Zhaobing.
In his speech, Lu Keping thanked SIMM for its long-term care and support for the construction and development of HENU. He said that HENU attaches great importance to the cooperation with SIMM. The joint construction of the Interdisciplinary Center for Drug Innovation is a concrete action to implement the People First and Life First philosophy of General Secretary Xi Jinping, a vivid practice to serve for the strategy of Healthy China and Healthy Central Plains, and also a powerful measure to promote the high-quality development of Henan’s medical education and meet the urgent needs of Henan people for high-quality medical services. HENU will give policy priority and key support to the Interdisciplinary Center for Drug Innovation in terms of resource allocation, platform construction and talent introduction.
Li Jia said in his speech that the pharmaceutical industry in Henan Province has an increasing demand for high-level pharmaceutical talents and innovative results. The School of Pharmacy of HENU has significant advantages in drug development in the fields of tumors and neurological diseases, and will make full use of the advantages in discipline and scientific research of SIMM, explore the coordination and collaboration between schools and institutes and between science and education and collaborative innovation, and build new models and new mechanisms for training talents with a solid theoretical foundation and distinctive professional characteristics. It is expected that the School of Pharmacy of HENU will make new breakthroughs in the basic research, achievement transformation and R&D of new drugs to better serve the local economy.
At the symposium, the two sides discussed how to implement the strategic cooperation agreement. Sun Junjian said that the two sides can start with talents training and scientific research to make cooperation more solid, stronger, and more effective. Ye Yang said that it is necessary to actively leverage the advantages of the two sides and obtain more support from the state and produce more results through this cooperation. The discussion atmosphere was enthusiastic, and consensus was reached on specific cooperation matters.
Subsequently, Li Jia and Sun Junjian signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties. According to the agreement signed this time, HENU and SIMM will adhere to the principle of “Complementary Advantages and Strong Alliances”, and carry out scientific research and innovative drug research and development in the direction of metabolic diseases, tumors, neurological diseases, natural medicines, utilization of Henan’s characteristic medicinal resources and product development to promote industry-university-research cooperation and serve the local economy.
After the signing ceremony, Academician Jiang Hualiang, former Director of SIMM, cordially met with Lu Keping and his party.
