Basic Medical Sciences School, key college of Henan University, is one of the colleges with leading comprehensive strength and great social influence. The college’s predecessor, Kaifeng Inland Mission Gospel Hospital and Nursing School was founded in 1929. In 2001, the three schools (Kaifeng Medical College, Henan University and Kaifeng Normal College) merged and the Medical School was set up, and in October, 2016, School (Ministry) of Medicine was officially subject to Henan University and then changed its name to Basic Medical Sciences School.

Currently, the school has a total of 129 teaching staffs, among its 99 full-time teachers (formal faculty members), there are 23 professors and 56 associate professors, accounting for 81.4%; 56 members with PhD degree or above, accounting for 60%. There are 2 double employed academicians, 2 experts entitled to The Recruitment Program of Global Experts, 1 entitled to ‘BaiQianWan’ Talents Program, 1 distinguished professor of outstanding talents, 1 distinguished professor of Henan province, 5 Yellow River scholars, 1 expert with government subsidies, 1 provincial innovative talent in science and technology, 3 provincial model in teaching and 3 distinguished teachers.

The school possesses 15 teaching and research departments and 3 comprehensive educational laboratories. It offers 2 undergraduate majors in clinical medicine and stomatology, equipped with one provincial basic medical and experimental teaching center, one provincial medical virtual simulation and experimental teaching center and one provincial bilingual teaching base.

The school now has provincial key disciplines in basic medical sciences, the doctor’s degree authorized unit in immunobiology, and first-class disciplines master’s degree authorized unit in basic medicine and clinical medicine. It also possesses 1 state-level laboratory (Henan University Joint national laboratory for antibody drug engineering), 3 provincial laboratories (Laboratory for Antibody Drug Engineering in Henan Province, Henan Joint International Research Laboratory of Antibody Drug, the Key Laboratory of Natural Medicine and Immuno-Engineering), 1 provincial laboratory (Key Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Immunology of Henan Province), 2 school-level scientific research laboratories (Laboratory of signaling transduction, Laboratory of Receptor Gene Regulation and Drug Research and Development), 3 research institutes, 3 provincial innovative teams in science and technology and 2 school-level outstanding academic groups.

At present, the school has more than 1250 undergraduates and over 150 postgraduate students. In recent years, the graduate entrance examination rate in this college has remained above 60%, leading the first for 6 consecutive years among the schools of Henan University. What’s more, over 80% graduate students published SCI (Scientific Citation Index) papers, and the highest impact factor can be up to 12 points.
