SHEN Beifen

Doctoral supervisor and the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
SHEN Beifen

(female, born in Shanghai in 1943) graduated from the Department of Biology, Fudan University and majored in biophysics. He was a graduate student of Institute of Radiation/Radiology Medicine, Academy of Military Medical Sciences from 1965 to 1968. Now she works as doctoral supervisor, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and researcher of Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Academy of Military Medical Sciences (People’s Liberation Army of China). As the director of key laboratory in molecular immunology of the People’s Liberation Army of China, her major part time jobs are the standing member/a member of the Standing Committee of the Science and Technology Committee of People’s Liberation Army of China, the vice president of the Chinese medical association and the standing council member of the Chinese Society for Immunology.

SHEN Beifen has engaged in biochemistry and immunology for many years, particularly/especially in research and application of monoclonal antibodies. Since 1980s, she has launched out a series of researches such as study on the structure and function of human leukocyte differentiation antigen, stockiness and their receptors, the signal conduction in immunocyte. In recent years, SHEN has cooperated with multidisciplinary experts on studies based on the spatial structure of IL6R binding site and the design of new functional molecules with three-dimensional structure information of antigen-antibody recognition. She has published more than 240 papers, edited 4 books and participated in the preparation of 6 books. She won two second prizes of national science and technological progress and 2 first prizes and 8 second prizes of military science and technology progress. She has trained/cultivated nurtured nearly 30 graduate, doctoral and postdoctoral students.

In 1997, she was elected as the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
