On the afternoon of April 9, Cai Jinming, Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Sanming City, Fujian Province, and Level II investigator, was invited to the Mingde Medical Lecture and gave a wonderful lecture entitled Building a New Era of Health Security System with New Ideas to nearly 500 teachers and students of Henan Medical School (HMS) in the lecture hall on the second floor of the School of Computer Science on Jinming Campus of HENU. Ren Xuequn, Executive Vice Dean of HMS, presided over the lecture.
Ren Xuequn first expressed a warm welcome to Secretary-General Cai Jinming who came from afar on behalf of the HMS. He said that since its establishment, HMS has continued to promote the medicine-education cooperation, continuously promote the reform of medical education, and strive to build a cultural value system of medical education. The Mingde Medical Lecture is a key project for constructing a cultural value system of medical education, aims to improve the humanistic quality and comprehensive quality of the medical personnel of HMS, and is a special ideological and political course for the majority of medical students.
Starting from multiple news videos of the harm of excessive medical treatment, Cai Jinming said that he has assisted Comrade Zhan Jifu in the medical reform of Sanming City since 2012. On the one hand, the system of covering hospital expenses with drug sales was broken by price-limiting purchases. On the other hand, on the premise of not increasing the burden on the common people, the cost of medical services was adjusted to allow hospitals and doctors to obtain higher returns. The path of joint reformation for public health service, medical insurance, and medical production-circulation was created, so the management system of medicine, medical insurance, and medical treatment was completely changed in Sanming. He said that the medical reform in Sanming restores the public welfare role of public hospitals, the diagnosis role of physicians and treatment roles of medications. The Sanming’s socialist health security system with Chinese characteristics in the new era was explored and built correctly and effectively, and fully affirmed by the State Council and the Party Central Committee and requested for vigorous promotion. He emphasized that in the process of implementing the healthy China strategy, practicing health as the center, and building a socialist health security system with Chinese characteristics in the new era, medical students also play a pivotal role as prospective physicians. At the same time, he hoped that all prospective physicians could work hard to learn professional knowledge well, deeply comprehend the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech on Building a Healthy China to make health an important indicator of a happy life, and contribute to the comprehensive promotion of the healthy China initiative.
Ren Xuequn, Executive Vice Dean of HMS, said in his summary that Secretary-General Cai Jinming brought an ideological and political lesson on How do Prospective Physicians Practice the Oath of Medical Students, which also gave all students a deep understanding of Sanming’s Medical Reform from a social perspective. He hoped that the students would study hard, develop in an all-round way, and strive for becoming HMS graduates who can provide high-quality medical resources for the people, who can contribute to the healthy China initiative, and who can strive for the health of the people all their lives.
